KELP stands for Kotuku Environmental Labourer Project. It is an innovative idea to recruit long term unemployed into the construction industry.

It will:

• Work with Job Centre Plus to recruit suitable candidates
• Run a two week training program to provide them with:
  • Health and Safety Green card
  • Basic environmental awareness
• Match them with pre-selected employers offering at least six months employment at minimum wage
• Provide on-going support and training
• Employ successful candidates to help with continued training
